The Shetland pony is a breed of pony originating in the Shetland Isles. American Shetlands ponies have heavy coats, short legs and are considered quite intelligent. They are a very strong breed of pony, used for riding, driving, and pack purposes.The pony and colt you are looking at was shot at the Circle K Ranch in Wodlawn, Virginia. They have quite a few Shetland ponies, including the thirteen new colts born in the last few weeks like the one in the photo.

I love to photograph horses! I don't have one..but spent a lot of time on a farm was a younster and rode then. I do appreaciate everyones comments, as it is very encouraging!
