White Breasted African Cormorant

White Breasted African Cormorant-an unusual find!

What an unusual find in the US, let alone in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. A friend and fellow photographer were out just looking for some good water shots and to our surprise was this strange looking bird, sitting on a small buoy about fifty feet of the shore line of Col. Francis Beatty Park and Lake was the water bird neither of us recognized. So Chris Flees and I started shooting, and this went on for about two hours, as this strange bird entertained us with his spread wing, turning on the buoy as the wind caught his wings.

It was not until several days later that we discovered that this odd looking water bird was not common to America. In fact it was not until Chris mad several calls to area Universities that we found out what a rare find it was to see and photograph the White Breasted African Cormorant in the US.
