Description
Mabry's Mill, a Grist Mill and known to many as a Water Mill. Is one of the most visited sites you along the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway. Watching the big wheel that turns the Grinding Stone that Grinds the corn that makes the cornbread has fed thousands has always fascinated me! Located at milepost 176 of Blue Ridge Parkway in Floyd County, Virginia, it is a tourist attraction mainly for the picturesque views of the mill itself, but offers those of us who continually search for that perfect view an outlet. Built in 1903 and first used as a blacksmith and wheelwright shop, then became a sawmill, but by 1905 it had become a gristmill.Mabrys Mill has become the main stop for photographers traveling the Parkway during the few short weeks when Summer turns to Fall and God paints a rainbow of colors with the foliage. The mill stop offers a rest, a meal, souvenir and an un-forgettable experience for the traveler. Images not soon to be forgotten.
