Description
The tree is more than first a seed, then a stem, then a living trunk, and then dead timber. The tree is a slow, enduring force straining to win the sky. ~Antoine de Saint-Exupry, The Wisdom of the Sands. As a young boy and even into manhood I spent many days lying under a tall tree, trying to solve the problems of the world as I watched the wind and the treetops dance . Nature offers us a cure for the angers of the world if we would just lay beneath a tall tree and "think" and listen to the wind and the tree speak. The tree in the photograph is one of the few left in Haiti. For the sake of the "Dollar" the mountains and hillsides were stripped of the beautiful Mahogany's and sold to the mighty Furniture Factories and now when the rain comes all you and see is the muddy water running down from the mountains. What if one Haitian National leaders had taken the time to lie under one of those billowing tall trees to day dream and rest for a while-maybe the barren hillsides and mountains would have still held their beauty today!
